We had a lot of fun recently finding FakeToos on Facebook. They sent us a few samples to try for free in exchange for photograhs. Here's a few:

I was really worried about the armband (originally a chest piece but we ran out of room) because of all the small negative spaces that would not come off with the stencil. But it worked out great because of instead of using a pair of tweezers to scrape and pull at the tiny stencil parts, we found an easier way. Simply feeling out where the negative area is located and where the island piece is, you pinch the skin super lightly until an edge comes up and you can take off the stencil. I wouldn't even call it a pinch because it isn't rough on the client at all. All in all, so much easier than a pair of poking tweezers

Yeah they are so great and didn't take long to apply. They come in smaller sizes which we are going to take to the festivals. Girls love butterfly wings.

Did we go through tons of glue? Not really at all. We have the small glass applicator from Glimmer Body Art and you can't tell that it made a dent in the glue. We did it section by section: filling in with glue, then glitter, then the net section with glue than glitter so the glue didn't dry out too fast.

I like faketoos selection and designs, but i find the vinyl between the 2 layers is too strong with the stick. Did that make sense? Lol

I have found that with several, especially being in summer festival heat, Get stuck. I cant get the top stencil layer off it it is just STUCK on! So bad that some rip and Others i throw away halfway because its so bad. I find the glimmer art stencils so much smoother and easier to peel.

Anyone else? Its been differen batches too, not just one.

Well that's good to draw my attention to Smile I haven't yet worked with faketoos in the summer heat so I haven't really had a problem with super strong stickingness. Poo.

Sam,
Awesome idea to get the little details off! I love Marks detailed designs & his newest necklaces & wings are Fantastic! He is sending me samples and I want to glue gems (from Michaels scrapbook section) in the spaces that demand jewels ; )

Pinkundies, email Mark about it. He is always ready to help. Years ago, I got a bad batch that did the same thing because his supplier sent him the wrong vinyl and I got the first few made of it, he immediately sent me replacements. His shipping is always SO fast for my orders!

I always have FakeToos in my glitter kit, can't wait to get my samples ; D
Cheers,
Susan

Yes, please email me and we'll figure out your "stickiness" problems. Since I haven't had anyone have the same problem as you're having, there might be a problem with materials or possibly the way they were cut. I only do events in the summer, outdoors, and usually in 100 degree heat; and I've not had any problems at all with what you're describing. There are also tricks that I might be able to steer you towards. And as usual, I will ALWAYS do whatever it takes to make things right.

As far as pulling out the detached pieces, I'm going to recommend (as always) the use of a sharpened, round, wooden toothpick. (Not as scary as it sounds!) For more guidance with that, email me or check out the tutorials page on our website.

Now, MY question here is . . . what would all of you charge for applying the jumbo wings?

we have had the stickiness issue also to a point hubby hates the faketoo's now and I LOVE them! he does the tatts while I face paint. It's a real issue when it's hot and humid, he just can't get them off the tape and then he has issues with the stencils not sticking. He told me not to order anymore, but I've already got my list to restock Smile is there anything we can do to avoid this? he uses a hairdryer to dry the area, when we have electricity but that's not often. I love your selection and so do the kids I don't want to buy someone else's tatts. It's almost always hot and humid here. Is there a trick to dealing with heat and the tatts?

We charge 8.00 for the BIG dark mark so at least 10.00 for the back wings since it's a bit more time consuming. I have a big comic book con gig and I think we will be getting at least one or two to offer. I love them BTW they are lovely!

Well, I've asked that you folks that are having problems with stickiness to contact me through email and we'll figure out what to do.

As far as pricing, I'm talking about the "jumbo" wings vs. the "large" wings too. My idea would be $12 for the "large" (since they are 2X the typical "large" price of $7) and $18 for the "jumbo". The response on our Facebook page has been along those lines.

I'll be adding some glitter tattoos this year. I love the jumbo wings and necklace! My daughter, who will be the one doing them, is a little daunted by them. I'll have to start her out with the little ones and move up.
So glad to see a company that works with you when there's a problem. Now, THAT'S customer service!

The stronger the stick, the better in my book. We haven't had any problems so far and our winter has reached 80 degrees plus humidity. I don't see it as being a huge problem. Faketoos has the best selection and price so that's where I'll be staying.

I've never had any issues with the stencils being too sticky. They've all worked perfectly for me so far.

I'm also wondering about pricing, since I'm possibly doing TWO major festivals this summer, just glitter/mica tats. I guess the norm for 2x2 stencils is around $5? If I end up buying some of those jumbo wings (which I want to SO BAD!!!) I think around $15 would be appropriate. I don't think people in my city (who have never heard of glitter tats) would pay much higher than that.

Its a big problem once the stencil is on the skin and you cant pull the top layer off. I am happy to see caring business owners backing their products though. Mark, I will email you. Thanks so much Smile

I haven't given much thought yet on what to charge. My prices for tats are usually $5 and $7. I did the child size wings on my daughter and they are gorgeous.
Whoever said Faketoos has the best designs was right.

I find if I pull back the top clear layer so that it is almost laying flat and go slowly, it works best. And I then press my hand over the tattoo. I think that helps it adhere to the skin.
I also have started using a toothpick to lift the tiny pieces, it works much better than trying to use tweezers.
Hope that helps.

Here are a couple of pics I had posted on my facebook page.

I brought my new FakeToo Fairy Wings & Choker designs to my Jam and when they saw them, we had to try a few out before the GLITTER FEST JAM in two weeks!

The designs gathered a crowd & compliments while we were doing it. I couldn't resist using jewels and Arla embelished it with dropped shadows & outlines ; )

Desiree called me the next day and said "they came out fine when I got up, only one jewel fell off in the morning - I just pressed it back on and I was good to go!"

Arla added the butterfly body with paint before I could take a photo of just the wings ; ) We had great fun creating these and we LOVE his new designs!
