Glitter bottles Empty Glitter bottles

Post by Miss Ronnie on Fri Jan 06, 2012 2:03 pm

I have a basic glitter tattoo set-up with small jars of glitters. I would like to know if the poof bottles are easier, faster and last longer... any feedback is appreciated.

I have seen someone on the forum use them and they say to cut the holes a little bigger so the glitter "flows" out instead of poofing out. I haven't tried it, but would like too.

Yes, I think they are much easier. I made the holes bigger by inserting a dart (from a dart board) through the hole. You can put the color right where you want it. I have the Amerikan Body Art glitter bottles with the kind of rounded tip like glitter poofers.

No danger of having your whole stash of glitter dumped or blown away either. Leah Riddell convinced me of the bottles at her class in Vegas and I've tried it both ways because I bought some Tulip and Glimmer jars and I much prefer the poofer (enlarged hole of course.) I've kept my little red lids intact all this time by just getting in the habit of putting them back on after use. I don't take them off all at once.

D.

PS: I also like that you can take the bottle to the client instead of having to be close to your jar so you don't dump the load off your brush. I do keep a few jars of glitter in my paint kit for dusting lips and for the wet brush technique but not in my glitter kit.

I like the bottles for outdoor gigs, but love the color display & selection the jars give to clients...now I am trying to come up with an idea to combine both.
Any ideas?

Tip: I manage the jars in silicone ice cube trays that just fit the 2 oz. size.

It's pretty close, and the best I've seen so far! THANK you! I might just wind up getting these if my search for the long slender ones doesn't work out. And thanks for posting. Thanks, thanks, thanks. Surprised)

I use both, it depends what you are doing and how you like working. sometimes I poof glitter and sometimes I use the flip-lid pot strips...

HI there, I am just starting out with glitter tattoos and have found from practice that the poof bottles suit me better than pots although with the mica I prefer a pot and brush as it is so fine it goes all over the place if I try and poof it! I do find that the holes in the bottles need enlarging a few times before they work perfectly, the plastic seems to close back up to begin with - bizarre!

Yes it really depends -the bottles all seem to have different sized holes even from the same batch! As said I use both poofer and pots depending on the design. or both:)

Thanks, everyone! I ended up purchasing a whole new set-up for my glitter & mica tattoos... went for the whole nine yards (way too expensive! - Help! ... Glitteraholic here!!!!! ) but I love working with the bottles!

Okay, so now do I go for a Silhouette or Cricut? Laughing

I own a Cricut and I'm happy enough with it, but loathe the expensive cartridges and inability to manipulate designes or create new ones.
When I have more time, I'm going to explore my SCAL program and try some custom glitter tattoos.

I used to think I wanted the eCraft machine if my cutter ever died, but we got it at work and after a week of using it, I am disappointed.
I have often heard great things about the Silhouette and think that might be a direction I head in, eventually.

Good luck in your search.

What fabulous glitter tat setup did you end up going with? Do you have pictures?

I LOVE my silhouette (well actually it belongs to my hubby!) I find it really easy to use and it is really cheap to produce your own stencils Smile Not used the cricut so I can't compare.

It's packed and ready for an event but you can see it:
Amerikan Body Art Professional Glitter & Mica Tattoo Kit... from their website, wholesale price. Thank God for birthday parties to fund these expenses! But it'll pay off 'cause there are some big events coming up for us.
