This was easy peezy lemon squeezy so I thought I'd share. It's basically just flick stars with dots. I think anyone could do it. If you're thinking about doing freehand glitter, you should try it. I was so happy with result and the rainbow colors (start at the bottom.)

wow - that's great...teens and adults would love that. Good inspiration for me actually BUYING my glitter tattoo stuff, instead of just talking about it! I really like the idea of doing freehand instead of stencils.

Do you have the brush applicator? or the lip gloss? I'm using the lipgloss and my lines are so fat- ugh.

It was a really fine brush, probably a zero. I probably wouldn't use a brush bigger than a 2 because the glue is more finicky than paint and you have to go over it. I didn't have to go over this much because all the strokes are small and tapering...does that make sense...anyway.

The only time I use a bigger brush is when I'm doing the glitter calligraphy and then it's a pretty small square brush. I have a little bit about it on my youtube video about using calligraphy that I posted a couple of days ago. It's about 3-5 mins in.

http://www.facepaintforum.com/t6277-calligraphy-class-on-my-youtube-channel

Cat's Creations has some BEAUTIFUL freehand glitter work on her youtube channel. The videos are short but there is one longer one that shows a whole body glitter job in fast speed. Really cool. I think she posts here on the forum.

https://www.youtube.com/user/CatsCreationsBodyArt

I think once you try it you'll be hooked.

I did a stylized heart that tapered on the two bottom edges (it wasn't closed), Kanji and the Michael Jordan insignia this weekend, freehand, with the lipstick applicator. It just takes a bit of practice and control but it's not hard or impossible.

I have a set of small brushes for it but I forgot them so I had to make due.

Someday I'll remember to take pictures. Then again, I usually do these at crazy busy events, so maybe not. lol

Doesn't the paint brush start gumming up after a while. I was trying to figure out how tatts with a brush would work. Can anyone share. I would love not to have to use so many stencils.

I use q-tips for large areas, I use regular small brushes for finer work - I just clean them with alcohol to get the glue off.....

I have done some free hand-one youtube video I saw she put a small amount of blue face paint in the glue so you can see where you have been .that part worked good for me but I have had a hard time getting fine tapered lines, and my brush is getting sticky even though I soak it in alcohol

The brushes never get totally clean. That's why I bought one of those 10 packs with a coupon because I know I'm going to have to throw them away. I was wondering why there aren't rubber brushes that have some flexibility like brushes but can be cleaned off. Keeping my eye out at hardware stores and such for something that will fit the bill.

The brush I used barely had any bristles so it gets pretty clean in the alcohol. I've also got to get me some 99% for the sole purpose of cleaning brushes...I've heard it makes a big difference. They didn't carry it at Walmart...they did have the 91% which is pretty good.

I use little "disposable" eyeliner brushes I got from a trade show - like the ones you can get at the counter at a MAC store to sample with (*very* fine point with very few hairs). I get 99% isopropyl alcohol at Costco.

I'm thinking some nail art tools would work here too - some are metal (like a stylus), but I think some are rubber.... going to check my stash....

Rubber ended dental instruments can work too. I love the disposable brush idea. Very pretty BTW. That would be great for fireworks night. I may have to do that to my family tonight before we head out to ours.

Cool Noella...I'll check our Costco for the alcohol. I LOVE watching nail art videos on Youtube...they have some great ideas we can use in face painting.

We don't have MAC here but that sounds like what we'd need. Check your stash and get back with us.

Checked what I have still in package - no name where it came from.... receipts at a trade show mean I'm lucky to have a total for tax purposes.... checked a dozen sites of companies that I normally frequent at the shows and nothing similar, but checked Suzanne's site, and she had (almost exactly) what I was looking for! The ones I have are black handles and white synthetic hair, these are white handles, black hair - but really fine!

Found a rubber cuticle pusher in my stash, but I'm really thinking something for dots.... so still looking....

I was thinking about sketching the design on carbon paper (transfer paper like real tattoo artists use) and then doing the glitter tattoo on top of the design...that way I wouldn't have to worry about whether or not I could see the glue!

Forgot Qosmedix (which might very well be where the brushes I have started from) - warning, bulk is the only way to buy here....

Swab

Fine Tip Applicator

Black handle/white tip ones I have

Another fine brush

2ml empty bottle/cap/brush (comes out to about 50cents for the set)

I googled rubber paint brushes and found these...

http://www.spacekraft.co.uk/shops/spacekraft/Product.aspx?cref=PD1682334&rguid=f5a95e3c-fa48-4583-967d-78de1b93175b

not sure if they'd be fine enough - but maybe just using the tip of the first brush would work

I love the idea of freehand glitter tattooing!

I hope this works - my first attempt at hosting a photo and my first attempt (inspired by you) of doing freehand glitter tattoos - obviously needing improvement. The bear paw/dog print is a stencil - the butterfly/flower/star/dots thing is my freehand. It's nice to have a little girl to experiment on Very Happy

I used a 'doppler' from walmart to do the freehand designs (I think that's what they're called - for making dots in packs of five - but actually I don't like them for facepainting usually, but for the glitter glue they work well - no bristles.)

I like the rubber brushes...I wonder if they come smaller. I think they'd clean a lot better than regular brushes.

FUN FACTORY...shut up, great free hand stuff. I missed it before.

So, helena...are you talking about those "sharp" Qtips like in the cosmetic section or is it something different. I actually love the flowers and especially the delicate colors you've chosen. I should try flowers, I usually do line work stuff but I like the look of those.

I've got to do some more. I bought a bunch of glitter and then there ended up being a couple of glitter booths at the fair so I've probably got enough glitter to do a ton of designs.

Fun stuff.
