Crayola says, "No!" Empty Crayola says, "No!"

I came across this article today, "Crayola warns against using crayons as makeup" and thought it was right in line with what we say even if they're not referring to paint necessarily.  Non toxic doesn't make it safe.

You can check it out here: http://www.ctvnews.ca/health/crayola-warns-against-using-crayons-as-makeup-1.2380214

Crayola also released the following statement:

As the manufacturer of children's products, safety is our top priority at Crayola.
Although our products are nontoxic, we do not recommend using them to make eyeliner, lip stick or other make-up, and strongly discourage their use in this manner. The products were never intended to be used on the skin or face in this manner.

Make-up goes through specific and rigorous testing because it is intended to be used on the skin.  Because they were never meant to be used as make-up, our colored pencils or crayons have not been tested in the same way and should not be used as a cosmetic. They are not designed, tested or approved for this purpose.

Which can be read here: http://www.crayola.com/faq/safetymsds/is-it-safe-to-use-crayola-crayons-to-make-lipstick/

Please note I'm only putting this out there in case someone needs to dumb down the reason why craft paints aren't ok, etc...

I've seen this around online where people were using crayons to make all kinds of makeup. It really struck me as strange, and not a very good idea.

Been saying this for over a year now! All those youtube vid showing how to make crayons into lip sticks and such. Been telling all my friends what a bad idea it is. I remember I wrote to crayola about a year ago linking them to some of the videos and asking them to release a statement. But i never heard back. I'm glad they finally did this.
