Glitter tatts and sun Empty Glitter tatts and sun

I haven't seen this anywhere, but surely it must be something other people have noticed.

I've just started doing glitter tattoos, which are very much a summer thing where there's more skin visible. A friend of mine now has a tribal wolf head semi-permanently burned onto his arm because while the tattoo covered his skin, the area around it which I wiped with the alcohol rubbed his sunscreen off! You can't do without sunscreen in NZ in summer. Our burn time is like 10 minutes. Sad

I've noticed that applying sunscreen over the top of a glitter tatt seems to affect the adhesive, turning it gooey and bringing it off quickly. Maybe a spray one you don't have to rub in? I don't know. I'll run some experiments on me and my kids, but please, experienced summer-tatt people, if anyone already has a solution I'd be so happy.

Sorry, I don't know, although the spray might work. I am interested to know the answer though... I will watch this thread.

Our sun is not that intense here on the 'Wetcoast' of Canada...that said, I had a gal over today that I'd given a tattoo to during the summer. She just got back from Hawaii and while the 'tanline' she got during the summer had faded, it showed up again since she went back out in the sun. So she has a 'Hunger games' tattoo all over again only without the glitter! LOL

I always let them know that I've removed the sunscreen and it's up to them to decide how to protect their skin. Oil will soften the adhesive.
