What's the trick? ~ Using a brush with mica
I use poofer bottles for my glitter & a brush (perhaps the wrong one)for my mica tatts. Until recently, I avoided doing mica tatts as my brushes would gum up & I'd have to clean them often. Once wet, more mica would stick... messy deal. Even tried using Q-tips with an even more messy & fuzzy results. This sounds so silly coming from some one who has been doing these tatts for just shy of a year now.
Here's what I got: I use pros-aide adhesive for either tatt, a stencil (though after seeing Cat's work, I'm COMPLETELY inspired to try free hand!!) My glitter is mostly Mama Clown (I widen the tips with a drill bit for more of a pour than a poof) & a few Glimmer poofs - mica from Amerikan Body Art.
So, what's the trick? How do you use a brush to pick up the mica without clogged bristles? What type of brush do you use?
I've youtubed a bunch of how-to's & I see a few sponge applicators being used (for mica), but many folks using a small pot of glitter with a brush. What am I missing?

I use eyeshadow crease brushes or blenders - picks up lots of mica and deposits it where I want....

I use glitter brushes... they are silicone tipped and pick up glitter/mica. Metina sells them in the store... I have been using these for all of my glitter tattoos and I really like them

How well does the silicone pick up the mica Suzy? are they easy to clean the glue off of?
(just because I like what I use doesn't mean I'm not always looking for something better - I'm a brush collector)

comes off a lot easier than on regular brushes... I just rub the silicone on the alcohol and it comes off really easy. I made a video but it is WAY too large and my computer crashes. I will try making a smaller one soon.

TBH I just use old face/ art brushes for adding micas/ metallic powders. As long as your glue is dry it isn't a problem. And if you are naughty and do get glue on the brushes, the rubbing alcohol rinses out the powders as well (thought you often have to sort of squeedgee out the disolved gluey-gel from the bristles).
