The obsession begins... Empty The obsession begins...

Post by MasterpieceFacePainting on Thu Feb 02, 2012 10:04 am

I got home this morning and a wonderful package in metallic blue jiffy bag and I knew right away it was from Cat's Creations! I ordered a small bottle of glue and an applicator tip and off I went to try it out.

I only got a small bottle and one applicator tip so that I could sample glitter tattoos, see if I liked them. What was I thinking!? I love them and as soon as I get my next wage slip I'll be ordering the rest of the kit.

Anyway, here's my first ever freehand glitter tattoo (the logo of my company)
Sorry about the picture quality.

Edit: Oh gosh! The picture's HUGE! Sorry... Shocked

What kind of glue and can you post a pic of the bottle/tip?! I've been wanting to try this but I've got Prosaide and it's just so thin/watery that I can't imagine it working with a bottle and not running everywhere.

Well done Smile

Prosaide/ Gaftobian Pro adhesive is what I used to use before I found the cheaper cosmetic glue I now sell, it IS a liquid you learn to go with it.

BekahCat, Glad you liked the jiffy bag, hubby didn't understand the expense but I LOVED them:) And enjoy - this is so much more fun/ creative freehand than fiddling with stencils:)

Kritsal, I have videos of it on my youtube & pics on my www....

Oooh Cat! Thanks for that link! Awesome.

Would an empty liquid bling bottle work, or no since it's a pop on tip?

How much to ship to Canada? V4N 0W3. Was thinking of your Kit 1 + 2 more tips.

Thanks Cat, for posting the pictures and videos, I haven't been getting email replies from this topic!

I've never used stencils or any other applicator tips, but I don't think I will... Haha

The only issue I have with this, is getting the glue to dry faster since it applies somewhat thicker than with a stencil... any tips?

Ooh, this is what I did a few days ago, I managed to get away with this while working in a supermarket for two days! *Very proud*

Not sure what postage will be, Kristal, I'll ask at the Post office tomorrow. Shouldn't be too bad, its really light stuff and a small packet!

Liquid bling etc bottles is what I used to use, but I found it so hard to keep popping out the lids to reill them with glue, and have twice had the lids pop off in the middle of demos, ALL over my models/ drying design:(. which is whay i love the screw-top bottles i have now - also easy to clean them as you unscrew the applicator tips form the bottle, screw onto matching bottle filled with rubbing alcohol, and just flush through.

BekahCat, the glue will take longer to dry than for stencils although as you get faster at applying/ more control (and finer tips?) you get finer lines. I tend to work on rotation - I'll glue 3 people, glitter the 1st if dry, glue a 4th, glitter the 2nd etc. I also have a chinese hand fan (not bothering with a handheld electric one as saw someone use one at a fair for glitter tatts and it kept spraying glitter allover the place when put down w/o being switched off). They really don't mind waiting and its often a bit of a com to see 'who's hottest' and dries fastest...this is with adults btw i don't do kids often:) So you are never wasting anyone's time or standing doing nothing. I have a big banner up too like this:

Ok. So now I'm confused. Cat & Kristal.... did you use strictly glitter gel in the bottle for these? Can you give a step-by-step run down? I LOVE it and want to give it a try!

I have a bunch of wee videos on my youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/user/CatsCreationsBodyArt?feature=mhw4
Actually the 'My Bloody Valebtine' paint that is the front video at the mo is mainly glitter tattoo too. Just look through my past videos for a VERY brief glitter tatt demo, i will do a proper 1 at some point. And am about to upload 2 new ones from today (vids i mean not demo's yet).

And no, its cosmetic glue that you let dry then glitter, sort of like doing a glitter tattoo stencil but free-hand, w/o the stencil.

NICE Kristal, am loving that, henna-style stuff is something I keep meaning to have a go at!Beautiful.

Just editing pics from the glitter tatt demo's I did today at the UK's biggest jam, will get them up soon...

Gorgeous Kristal! Since you couldn't order the glue too (freezing issues at this time of year), which glue did you use? How long until you could safely touch it while preserving the design?

Cat, I'm sending you a pm regarding an order for me as well.

Thank you! It was fun, if but at an awkward angle, haha. I have an idea but need a shoulder blade or something. Should call my sister, lol.

I used Prosaide! Ordered some from SF ages ago when I got my glimmer kit, and decanted into the 3/4oz bottle.

You know how when you pour a drink, you can sometimes get the tension from the liquid to hold itself above the rim of the glass? Kind of like that. I was surprised that the glue didn't just run, because it's so think! But there was that tension.

Plus I was getting used to how damn fast it came out, haha. Will work on thinner application.

I went to bed an hour or so after doing it, and some of the parts where the glue was thicker, 'stuck' a bit to my bedding, but it looks more or less the same today!

Gorgeous ladies, gorgeous.

I really appreciate the youtube vids Cat. They piqued my interest in freehand, and made it seem not so darn difficult. I have done two by using an old brush, but your method looks faster and easier.

CAt, thanks for my order, I got my bottles 2 weeks ago, I tried and I have this issues:
1. Glue takes too long to dry I timed 15 minutes, so a small design in your hand will take 20 minutes,
2. Because the lines have volume I found out that my hand stick to everything, and for the same reason the whole thing come out really easy.
Maybe I am doing something wrong but I am thinking that a free hand tattoo doing with a brush would last longer and dry quicker b/c the glue lies flat.
3. Free hands tattoos are not definitely for kids they don't have the patience or the care the procedure requires.
BTW I LOVE LOVE the bottles and applicators I am ready to place a new order, I am using them with my glitter gel and they are superawsome for bling, the lines are so perfect and the gel dries faster.

Kristal that is unbelievably beautiful, what a delicate touch and clean lines for a first go. Did you apply glitter with a brush? This would really work for me with Team names and numbers and people wanting their names. I think I'm hooked............. sunny

Luz, do you think you were squeezing too much glue too fast? When I was on my "A-Game" (HA) and got nice thing lines, they didn't take more than 5 or so minutes to dry, but the places where the glue poured out did, obviously, take longer.

skj, thank you!! I'm having a hard time thinking of ANYTHING to do that isn't a flower...and the same one, haha. I should do some research.

Yes, I applied the glitter with a brush Smile

Post by Wildcatfin on Wed Feb 29, 2012 6:10 pm

umm Kristal, thats not normal...

I think maybe you are either moving the bottle/ tip too slowly - you need to sort of drag the glue along, fast- or yes, squeezing too hard? It almost falls out w/o pressure if that makes sense which is why you get the lovely fine lines. Even when I want perfect round 3D blobs, which are the thickest bits on my designs, they dry in under 5 mins for me with no fans or a/c or heating or whatever & the UK isn't exactly warm...

What do you mean your hand sticks to everything btw? When the tatt is finished? As when its dry & glittered, you should not stick to anything as long as you have coated the glue properly. The surface only stays tacky if its not covered by something - make sure you have a good smoosh around with a fluffy brush before using a stiff brush to brush off.

I do use brushes to apply some tattoos (mainly for wider designs on whole bodies) but the problem with them is they gum up as you work, the glue sort of dries from the ferrule downwards and makes it hard to keep fine details/ motions. Yes the glue lies flatter but its much more difficult. It's eventually like painting with a stick, really:) And none of the alcohols or removers fully restore the brush - you basically end up Do you get y-body stuff? As Juliet eve of Facade glitters does lovely things with the horrible litle nail-varnish type brushes in the lids of that type of glue bottle. I hated them as again its not a pointed round brush so it limite designs...

Good to know the gel work in them too, which type do you use? I hadn't tried mine as I thought the tips were too fine for glitter.

Must say I know a lot of people here that do do freehand glitter tatts on kids as their main business, not sure how they do it (management/ procedure-wise) but would assume its like mine for adults - glue a few, glitter 1st, go bac & glue a 4th, glitter 2nd etc. Its not much longer than waiting for a facepaint. I just prefer teens/ adults myself as i get to do beautiful nothings on them and don't get asked for cartoons etc:) Plus kids faces i can often do in 3 mins flat so paint pays better for me there...

Cat x
