First glitter tattoos event Empty First glitter tattoos event

So, I had my first glitter tattoo party yesterday. It was about 102* in the shade and humidity was, well lets say it was very soupy!
I had practiced a couple of times with the tattoos (Faketoos) and felt pretty confident. Well, lets just say practicing in air conditioning and working on kids who just jumped out of the pool - are two totally separate things! Shocked

I think it took me just a couple to get into a rhythm, but even then, things were slow - tattoos not sticking, except where they weren't supposed to...glitter sticking EVERYWHERE...and little girl bellies moving around like a seasoned belly-dancer!

The contract said there were to be 15-20 kids, I gave them my price for 1 hour. 2 HOURS LATER, I had finished with doing about 25 (I haven't done an exact count of 'toos used). Anyhow, to make a long story short - I explained that I had worked more and that since this was my first time doing tattoos, I wasn't going to charge them more. I had already made up my mind that I would do that...I wasn't feeling any pressure from them. They were tickled to death! Kids loved everything and everyone else loved them too. These people had been previous customers of my husband (children's magician) so I am sure they will be calling us again.

All this to say that I am glad the first one is under my belt. I feel like I know what to expect AND how many tattoos I can do in an hour, given the weather!

Those of you with experience - I assume you get faster as you go, right? (She says hopefully)

Well done! Great that you all had fun Very Happy

I'm quite new at glitter tattoo'ing too, but yes, I've noticed I've gotten faster the more I've done...and totally share your awakening about the difference between doing it inside in dry/contained conditions and outside!

I was outside on the weekend too with all that humidity and sweat which made the tattoos resist sticking - trying to hold them down whilst applying the glue (and keeping the tattoos from sticking to themselves, or me Very Happy) was crazy! (love your belly dancer comparison Very Happy)

Like you, when I had my first glitter tat party it lasted a lot longer than I'd thought it would (3 hours instead of 1) and that was INside! Very Happy

...but yeah...it does get quicker... What a Face

I have been doing glitter tattoos for a while now. I'm in florida so can relate to hot sticky summers. I can usually do around 1 tattoo every 5 minutes. That's the entire process of them sitting in the chair, me pulling the stencil out to use, prepping their skin and clean up after they leave the table. I carry a portable battery operated fan to help dry the skin after the alcohol is applied and to dry the glue a bit faster.

Thanks for the encouragement Helena - I am excited to do some more tat parties! One thing that really surprised me was how sticky I got! Guess I expected to get glitter all over me, but not glue! Shocked Don't know why I didn't expect that?! But by the time I was done, I felt like I'd been playing in Elmer's glue for a while...
Tra - thanks for letting me know how long it takes you to do one...that's a good number to keep in my head. And the fan idea is great too! Very Happy

Hi, I know i'm a few weeks late on this one, but I wanted to share what has worked for me. This summer, I have done about 6 glitter tattoo events, all outdoors, and I'm in Miami... Hot & Humid Miami. I always bring along with me a travel size baby powder and apply some on the child. I dust it off with a large blush brush and viola!, a dry area for the stencil to stick. I always tell the child to turn their head and close their eyes so the powder won't get into their eyes. It has worked like a charm and has made my life sooo much easier. The tattoos come out looking great and the glitter sticks only to the glue. It's great!

Jennie...How does the powder affect the durability? In other words, how long will they hold up?

Great tip, thank you Jennie! I love you

Someone else here shared about using lint rollers (the kind with the sticky sheets you peel off) for humidity and tats. SAVED the day for us at a festival last month. I will never do glitter tats without one, so fast and easy. Smile
