Glitter Tat DEBACLE! Empty Glitter Tat DEBACLE!

Post by Amanda on Sat Jun 04, 2011 10:55 am

So I made a bunch of my own tattoo stencils for the second time. The first time I used the Cricut transfer tape for the top layer, which was pretty tough to get off. This time I used regular clear contact paper as the top layer. Of course i was in a huge hurry to get them all done, so I didn't test it first. I made at least 200 stencils, all sorts of designs, which went over really well at the graduation party I did last night. UNFORTUNATELY, the contact paper was almost impossible to get off!!! I had to really fight with each one, which messed a few up. It was horrible. I made it thru the gig, and luckily no one picked the really intricate designs, but now I have all of these tattoos that are junk! Does anyone know what to use as the top layer on sticky vinyl that won't adhere to it permanently? I like being able to make my own, as it saves me alot of money, but I am out of ideas for what to use as my clear top layer. Anyone know what they use for faketoos or glimmer stencils?

I'm wondering the same thing. I sold my daughter to the circus last week to do glitter tattoos of their logo, and I thought it would be easier for her to do with the transfer tape- but no dice.

Hey Geek... I did some searching on the forum and found an old thread that gave the website for where to buy the vinyl and the transfer tape! http://signsupply.com/Vinyl/Ap_Tape/Ap_Tape.asp

The clear premium is the one someone said that Glimmer uses. I think I'm going to order a roll to try out... Hopefully shipping isn't crazy, cause it's not expensive at all.

Thanks for the link- I thought I'd seen it on here before. Now, the only other thing I need to figure out is how to make the little "cheat cut" in the corner to make it easy to separate the layers. Any ideas on that?
